“It’s all about selling”, begitulah slogan marketing yang terkenal. Orang selalu mengidentikan marketing dengan penjualan. Anggapan itu memang tidak sepenuhnya salah. Tetapi seperti kata Hermawan Kartajaya, “There is something beyond marketing, beside selling.” Selama ini banyak perusahaan di Indonesia hanya memfokuskan strategi marketing mereka pada marketing mix yang sudah ada, yaitu : pricing, promotion, dll. Dimana faktor-faktor tersebut terkonsentrasi pada penjualan, tetapi mereka melupakan suatu unsur yang terpenting, yaitu customer satisfaction (kepuasaan pelanggan).

Seperti yang kita ketahui service marketing adalah marketing yang berdasarkan pada relationship dengan konsumen dan juga value yang diberikan kepada konsumen.
